Kerry Dark Sky Reserve
For those of you who love stargazing, Kerry is the place to visit. a truly unique experience, stargazing with the sound of the ocean to listen to is as good as it gets. The Kerry Dark Sky Reserve is a public access area covering most of the south Kerry region. There is no fee and no limitations on access. The lack of light pollution in Kerry makes it the perfect place to gaze at the constellations and planets.
On moonless nights there are more astronomical sights to be seen with the naked eye than those seen in the Grand Canyon and the African Savanah. The Kerry Dark Sky Reserve is Irelands first International Dark Sky Reserve and is the only reserve on the planet where locals live and work, under the beautiful stars.
This Gold Tiered reserve takes in Kells, Cahersiveen, Portmagee, Valentia Island, The Glen, Ballinskelligs, Waterville, Dromid, Caherdaniel and Derrynane.
This is the perfect location to spend a peaceful night looking up the stars just like our ancestors did.
